K&F Concept Workshop

23/01/2022

Introduction

On a recent K&F Concept Workshop (29th September2021) I did some homework regarding how long this cruise ship was staying in the port of Liverpool, I was lucky it was staying overnight which gave me the opportunity to arrange this without worrying about the ship leaving early . On arrival at the terminal the weather was not good, heavy downfalls of rain for the first hour but it soon cleared up, a good turnout of people attended the event too. What to expect on one of these workshops, well all I ask is for a banner image from the event and some social media coverage ie; Facebook etc, I do have some of the latest photography gear, tripods, filters etc for you to try out if you want, I will guarantee no hard sales pitch either. These events are attended by very knowledgeable and talented photographers, but I always welcome newcomers who are wanting to learn.

Before and After

The above image was taken by myself just after the sun had set, the light levels were dropping and also I wanted to do a long exposure image to create some dramatic movement in the sky. But this ship has a North Star which holds the Guinness World Record for the tallest viewing deck on a cruise ship. You step inside the observation capsule and take in panoramic views of the surrounding sea and shores as you ascend over 300 feet above the water. The reason I mention this is because this isn't a long enough exposure to eliminate the movement of this capsule on your image so we had to wait for it to finish its cycle, we worked out the time it takes before it loads up with people and sets off on its next one, you then make some camera adjustments to get the correct exposure in the amount of time you are working with. If you want to join me on future workshops and you would like to take your photography up a level, I will attach Facebook groups which I am involved with, and also my home pages. Looking forward to meeting old and new faces in the coming months.
